The War on Women

Salem Whitch Trials

In another classic display of Media strangeness I came across this article this morning on the Top Ten Most Dangerous Places For Women In The USA.  I clicked the link originally because I was curious about what places in the US were dangerous for women, if I lived near one, or if I knew anyone who lived near one.  Call it morbid interest if you wish, I call it concern.

Lo and behold however, I opened the link to find an article about how the evil conservative establishment is trying to make it harder for a woman to get an abortion once the child in their womb is able to be proven as a living human being.  Now I don’t want to get bogged down in a discussion about abortion here because I would like to save that topic for another place where I can treat it with more thoroughness as is appropriate to an issue of its magnitude.

Suffice it to say now that I find it ironic that while the issue of abortion is fundamentally a human rights issue and not a civil rights one it is never treated that way.  By which I mean simply that the key question is not actually whether a women has the civil right to do as she wishes with her own body.  The actual question is whether or not an unborn child is protected by the Constitution’s 14th Amendment to the human right of equal protection and if not then at what point 14th Amendment protections kick in?

As I said however, this is not my point here.  My point is simply that I find it somewhat infuriating that the Media would focus its definition of “most dangerous to women” on the subject of abortion as though being prevented from undergoing a procedure whose outcomes are dubious at best is the worst thing to be perpetrated on women in America today.

Why did they not choose to highlight those cities where Sexual Assault and Rape is highest?  Why did they not concern themselves with the epidemic of Domestic violence?  Could they not have highlighted the ever growing problem of Human Trafficking which exists just as often in white upper class suburbs as it does in inner city ghettos?

Domestic Violence

Is it that these real dangers to Women are not as useful to the political agendas of some?  Or that true violence against Women requires a solution that is deeper and more profound than politicians can accomplish through regulation so it is better ignored then discussed?

Sex Trafficking Protestors

And here is where the Followers of the Way of the Cross must take responsibility for this.  The World will always emphasize that which suits its agenda, the People of God can not be this way because Truth never has an agenda.  Unfortunately Christians so-called, often are like the World, more interested in their pet-peeves rather than in the whole Truth.  The Ekklessia of Yeshua, the Church, must begin to act as His Body – speaking Truth and confronting evil in every form.

He Heals the Broken Hearted

Because if we do not then the World will continue to pick and choose the issues to fight over and the real dangers to Women will persist unchecked.
