Psalm 2

Why are the nations so enraged?
Why do they waste their time with futile plans?
The kings of the earth set their minds on rebellion;
the rulers plot it together (cf. Genesis 6:4-5)
because of YHWH
and because of His Messiah.
“Let us cast off their yoke,” they cry,
“and free ourselves from slavery to them.”  (cf. Matthew 11:29)

But the One who sits in Heaven scoffs.
The Sovereign Lord mocks them.  (cf. Proverbs 1:20-33)
In anger He will scold them at that time,
terrifying them with His the fierceness of His displeasure.
The Lord declares: “I have established My King in Zion,on my holy mountain.”

The King proclaims the Lord’s decree:
“YHWH said to me, ‘You are my Son.
Today I have brought you forth.
Only ask, and I will entrust to you the nations,
the whole earth will be yours.
You will break them with an iron rod
and shatter them like clay pots.’”

10 Now, you kings, be prudent and consider this!
Be warned, you rulers of the earth! (cf. verses 1-3)
11 Serve YHWH with reverence,
and rejoice with trembling.  (cf. Ecclesiastes 12:13-14)
12 Submit to God’s Son,or He will become angry,
and your Way of life will bring about your destruction,
for His patience will not last forever.
But blessed are all who put their faith in Him! (cf. Psalm 1)

Lord God – Adonai Elohym,

We live in a day and age when the whole world seems to be arraying itself against You.  When our rulers and judges are casting off restraint and opposing not only Your Torah but Natural Law as well.  Forgive us for treating Your Law as slavery, for treating Your mercy as weakness.  Forgive us for our pride, for thinking that we could throw off the yoke of Your grace, and not pay a price for it.  We acknowledge our foolishness and repent of our rebellion.  Forgive us O God by the blood of Yeshua, cleanse us of the stain of our Way of life, our depraved thinking and choices that reek with the stench of death.  Thank You for Your patience toward us that has allowed us the opportunity to turn from our ways and seek your face.  You are our refuge, our only hope of rescue.  Today we place our Faith in You, in Your grace.

In the Name of the Father of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. AMEN.
