Psalm 1

Tree, River, Sunlight

Psalm 1

1  Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of those who are hostile towards God,

Or conform themselves to the mindset of the rebellious (cf. Rom. 12:2),

Or affiliate themselves with the arrogant and proud and foolish (cf. Proverbs 1:7).

2 But they delight in the Revelation of YHWH (cf. 2 Pet. 1:19-21),

Reflecting on and considering what it means and how to apply it both day and night (cf. Deut. 6:1-9).

3 They are like trees planted along the riverbank,

Bearing their fruit in it’s season (cf. Gal. 5:22-23).

Their leaves never wither and everything they put their hand to prospers.

4 But it is not so with those who are hostile towards God!

They are like the worthless chaff which separated from the wheat,

It is scattered and driven by the wind (cf. Luke 3:16-17).

5 They will not be able to stand at the time of judgment.

For the rebellious have no place among the People of God (cf. Matt. 7:24-27).

6 For YHWH is intimately acquainted with of the Way of the Righteous (cf. Gal. 3:6-9),

but the Way of those who are hostile towards God inevitably results in their own destruction (cf. John 3:16-18).

Lord God – Adonai Elohym,

Forgive us for when we have unknowingly followed the advice of those who hate you and chosen to dig in our heals like those live in rebellion to you.  Forgive us for those times that we have chosen to yoke ourselves to arrogant fools.  Teach us to take our delight in Your Word and in the Revelation of Yeshua, illuminate us with the light of Your Truth and how we can integrate it into every aspect of our lives.  For our desire to dwell in safety and serenity, resting in your presence and basking in the light of your love… bearing the fruit which you desire to produce in our lives according to your good pleasure and experiencing the true prosperity of righteousness.  Establish us Lord, make us a People of Your Covenant, keep watch over us… that we might know the life that is truly life.

In the Name of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
